Wool from our heritage breed sheep processed and spun at Battenkill Mills, has been hand-dyed with botanicals. The dyes, though softer than standard chemical dyes, are color-fast and washable. Each skein is worsted weight yarn, 2-ply, with 220 yards. The wool comes from our heritage breed sheep, Dorset Horn, listed as “threatened” by the Livestock Conservancy. It is medium-grade wool with a springy texture, ideal for socks, hats, mittens, and needlework projects. Custom dye requests accepted.
This yarn is dyed with buckthorn berries resulting in a bright, medium-toned green.
