Hand Dyed Wool Yarn: Indigo

Wool from our heritage breed sheep processed and spun at Battenkill Mills, has been hand-dyed with botanicals. The dyes, though softer than standard chemical dyes, are color-fast and washable. Each skein is worsted weight yarn, 2-ply, with 220 yards. The wool comes from our heritage breed sheep, Dorset Horn, listed as “threatened” by the Livestock Conservancy. It is medium-grade wool with a springy texture, ideal for socks, hats, mittens, and needlework projects. Each indigo dye is unique, some have more green tones, others pure blue. Custom dye requests accepted.

This yarn is dyed with Japanese Indigo, resulting in a beautiful blue.
